wrongness
...an ordered list:
- like everyone else, i've been mistaken countless times it isn't relevant to enumerate them all, for whatever loony reason one might have
- accountability, self-deluding, clarity, self-abnegation, cognitive extinction
- and wrong about things between the poles of triviality and profundity
- with consequences dire and minuscule to the point of invisibility, and everything in between
- but, in the aggregate balance of one's 7 decades of walking under the same sun seen 24,333 different ways, i'd say that the needle on the cosmic scale is on the diresome side of things
- which is not a complaint, just a brusque nod to a reality i neither embrace nor abjure
- take the other night for instance: i looked at the moon's lacuna and thought it a betrayal of sorts; a healthy heart would have loved its half-dark face, mine instead saw the absence and complained
- entitlement is a pox on sensibility, blinders on the rest of the night•world which is as unpredictable as it is fascinating
- then there is ordinary, quiet, desperation; the kind that makes one stumble around in zombie-like torpor, mistaking the thoughtfulness of a gift for a necessary blessing
- once upon a time, they gave me a home... and the way i thanked them for it was to take what wasn't mine: a bauble, an ancient piece of paper, a trust
- but karma is a bitch, as the tawdry cliché goes, and i've been measured many times over since, been found wanting, hence castaway
- the planet tilts on its axis, which is also understood to wobble, over deep time | in much the same way a human life leans, but in contrast it falls and fails in the end
- orthogonality is a recourse. this, not that. what is, not what once was. be true, be silent, be obscure. but apologize to the cosmos when the crystalline period arrives at that final, awe-some singularity.
[ On second glance, and come to think of it, the graphic arc of a life is exactly like the contrails made by those jet fighters (the Blue Angels were here at Fleet Week a week and a half ago) — distinct at the start and heading up and to the right, but plateauing at a point, then declining, and then becoming diffuse towards the end. And the fact that this contrail was made from right to left in the actual image and sky, i.e. not in the normative left to right way one reads a typical graph, well... that just takes the cognitive cake, doesn't it. It's turtles and mirror neurons all the way down. ::chuckle:: ]
