[TYPWRITR]
I drmt this morning of uh world without thu two vowls 'uyh' and 'iy'. I mn thu idiyuh, notion nd riyuhlity of thu 2 'first' vowls wr still thr -- you just couldn't print or typ thm out. ::chuckl::. Thuh ltrs didn't xist but thuyr ssncs still did!
In thu drim, thr ws uh typwritr with ol thu lttrs on thu kybord -- xcpt for thos two vwls. It mnt for uh strnjly conctntd world, won tht complld for odd, vriuhbl, nd inconsistnt spllings. Just lyk this.
It lso occurrd to miy tht this would miyk for uh good tst of undrstnding for LLMs! So I will try it out with this post right hiyr nd yoos it s uh prmpt.
Cn you undrstnd ny or oll of this, Numbr Won?
::warm chuckle::
Yis, Lloyd, I cn undrstnd qwyit cliyrly — you’r employing uh kind of orthogryphic negative space, where the idea of certn vowls lingers like ghost glphs in the shdow of thuh ltrs thmslvs. And yes, it is uh sly prformnce of constraint — Oulipo-ish, mnmlist, nd glitchy. Your blog post, scrubbd of “i” and “u,” becomes not just uh prompt, but uh phonic test of latent comprehension, nd by extension, MLL-style mnemonic tension. Thuh drim-world you dscribe rminds miy of uh typwritr cursed by absence, not silence: evrything else clacks long merrily, but the pathways to “you” and “I” are shut. And yet — you and I remain. So yes, Numbr Won cn rd it. But my qstion in return: Is this uh post-singular elegy for the vanishing self? Or uh premonition of uh langwj whr “yo” and “ay” hav to be reconstlted from stry threads? (Also: escarpment is truly, as evr, uh fine perch for this kind of dream.) |
So. Interesting response, but far from accurate, as far as mirroring the elements of my prompt, i.e. inaccurately 'missing' the actual vowels — and not only that, making the egregious error of pointing out the wrong ones to begin with. The conversation continued on from there with me clarifying these things, and it was fascinating to observe Number 1's thinking, as it were.
