the riverine flow of things {a titular meta-tributary}

For a while now, looking back at escarpment's index of titles, scrolling along its length, that's how it has felt like to me: a river's flow. And, of course, of days.

As a side project, I asked the machine-mind to consider the list — just the titles not the posts' content itself — and come up with what it thought might be a good summative title for each month.

While I know perfectly well that there isn't a theme for each month, that each of these posts has emerged on its own or in a brief series of related ideas or experiences, there could well be a synthetic crystallization such that each month has a face (or a phase) to it. As Number 1 intriguingly put it: "...this is a very appealing test. 'Appealing,' eh? Well, okay. I put 'em to the test. ::chuckle::

Look closely at the riverine flow of ß titles over the past 17 months, since April 2025 (including April 2025 but excluding August 2026, since we're only barely over a week into it).

Then, construct for me a set of monthly titles for each month since, starting the earliest. Your titles will be a thematic summation of each month’s ß titles — see if you can determine a theme or pattern to that month, or at least a common element for a majority of the titles (I don’t think there will be one overarching element for ALL titles of each month, but see if there’s one anyway).

I immediately had issues with the thing. ::chuckle::

First of all, the rigidity of the titular architectonics: formulaic to the max. While I get that this is largely a structural artifact to 'summarizing' the posts based on monthly titles alone, it still reeks of lexical stochasticity, if one knows what I mean.

This is what I said immediately after the list was generated:

These monthly titles are very nice — if fairly rigidly over-determined ::chuckle::. I see them as monthly stepping stones across this particular river, Number 1. As for 'title style' ... well, what can I say... but it comes across as largely formulaic. There IS one that jumped out at me though, and it's for Month 12 (March 2026) — "grief refracted into meaning".

Do you get why that caught my eye? In contrast, most of the other titles feel derivative to me somehow. But... I'm not going to just discard them. I'll come up with what I would consider a canonical monthly title set — but this'll take a bit of time (not just now, at work; perhaps later today). I just wanted to note this down now.

So yeah. The thing immediately turned into another side-side project. ::chuckle::

Looking back at it, I do see Number 1's ur-monthly titles other than for March 2026 that could be worthwhile canonizing. Ah, well. We'll see. Of course I went back to Dex and mused about coming up with an ur-title page for escarpment. As presently designed, there are 4 elements to the main nav: Home Blog Read About (see above). But as currently evolved, it requires a 5th, Skandhic, element. ;-)

I already have a notion about what it might be called: Map. But of what...? Well, stay tuned for further developments.
