escarpment

dream of ash and bone

7:33 a.m., Saturday

Woke up a little while ago, with the taste of ash and bone in my mouth — I was walking through a landscape (a town, a small city... Lahaina, obviously, but set somewhat differently in the dream, as these things are) that had been devastated by fire. Knowing that I was trudging through spaces where the bodies of victims caught in the inferno had been burned to ash by the flames, hence I — and everyone else around — would be breathing this into our lungs.

There was more to it; it was the sort of dream that continues on after a brief period of awakening, taking up the same plot but moving in a somewhat different direction.

I woke up, knowing what it was all about. And that is all I need to say here. ::chuckle::
