This sequence was entirely unplanned: the top 2 images found me on my walk up Jones to Nob Hill -- the contrasting dark and light planes catching my eye and imagination, so I paused for a minute to capture the surfaces.
Then, the bottom image at NH itself, at the outside labyrinth at Grace Cathedral. I very much liked the chiaroscuro aspect of the moment, as I looked down seeing the cathedral's shadow being cast on half of the labyrinth, at around half past 3 in the afternoon.
(I wasn't thinking at all about the previous images of the apartment building's frontispiece corner on Jones, as I took the picture at my feet.)
Only this morning, looking at my Photos app, did it occur to me to put all three together just like this:
