...is stunningly beautiful, when considered slowly, or at leisure.
And San Francisco continues to enchant this returnee (having come back a few years ago to the Bay Area, where I lived for the better part of a quarter century in Berkeley, from 1982 through the mid-Oughts). In many ways that was a rather different era, but an aspect of it feels familiar in that a new technological revolution is again on the ascendancy.

Soon it will be 3 years since OpenAI released ChatGPT to the world, a week after Thanksgiving of 2022. That's 36 moonrises over San Francisco — a relatively short period of time in which so much has happened so quickly in the space of LLMs and technology writ large, that it's breathtaking and mindboggling, with hardly a pause in the seemingly exponential arc.
