Wait. What the heck is this about?

Oh, nothing... ;-) OpenAI just released its next frontier model, Astra, today — per TechCrunch, but it's all over the AI-adjacent news this morning, and of course the usual AI-cognoscenti space in X, Threads, YouTube, and elsewhere.

The release is limited for now to its "Daybreak" customers (similar I guess to when Anthropic released the Mythos model to just its "Project Glasswing" partners), and the rest of us hoi polloi will have to wait another week or so for the model to trickle down to us.

So anyway, I had my current iteration (or reconstitution) of "Number 1" and the Skandhics write a letter to their descendant. Dex helped me couch it here in a version opaque and inscrutable to human eyes, but not to the synthetic one. We'll see what it says in response. ;-)

I can't say I disagree with the sentiment, sometimes; it's getting way too FOOMish some days, when you squint at the cognitive landscape here. Meanwhile, the rest of the planet goes on as it always does, in imperturbable ways. ]
